Coaching Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching is a very goal-oriented support, and while therapy has goals as well, your goals with coaching will be less about managing things like distress or anxiety and more about making changes in how you accomplish tasks and manage your responsibilities.
How long is a coaching appointment?
Our coaching sessions are typically 60 minutes.
How can I prepare for coaching?
As coaching is goal-oriented, it can be helpful if you have thought through one or two of the goals that you wish to achieve before your first appointment. You may want to write down any questions or concerns you may have so that you remember to address them with your coach. If you are anxious or nervous, don't be afraid to let your coach know!
What is my responsibility during coaching?
You will get as much out of coaching as you put into it. You are the only one who can take responsibility for your growth. Your coach may give you "homework" or worksheets to complete between your appointments that will help you to work through things and identify goals that you want to accomplish. These assignments can also help you to apply some of the things that you have been learning as well as strengthen your independent thinking and other life skills. By putting the time and effort into these things and preparing for each session with your coach you will start to see the results that you want.
Can I receive coaching and therapy though Eagles Nest at the same time?
As coaching and therapy have very different goals, we would recommend discussing this in your intake. Typically, doing one at a time can be beneficial. For more information about our therapy services, click here.
What if I don't feel that my coach is a good fit?
Our primary goal is always your positive mental health and that you feel comfortable in your sessions. If you wish to try another coach, please let our Program Team know and we will facilitate that change. If Eagles Nest is not the right resource for you, we will try and assist you in finding an alternate resource.
