Colin Deweerd, Faith Church: Walking Together for Community

By Eagles Nest  |  October 16th

For Colin Deweerd and Faith Church Burlington, participating in the Coldest Night of the Year was a natural step in their growing relationship with Eagles Nest. The church’s commitment to supporting local initiatives made it an easy decision to join the walk and contribute to a cause that makes a real impact.

"Well, our church has had a growing relationship with Eagles Nest for several years. So, through that relationship, it was an easy call just to participate in the walk," Colin shares.

The event left a strong impression on him, not just because of its purpose but also because of the people who came together to support it. "I just love the fact there were 150 plus people there, all with a heart for the hurting. They're doing it not for themselves, but for other people. Just there’s a commonality with everybody that was walking. So, I thought that was kind of cool."

Colin recognizes the importance of making mental health services accessible and values the heart behind Eagles Nest’s mission. "What you do to help the people... that require or need mental health services — I just like the fact that every one of your staff is doing it because they love what they do. I think it's a growing need at this time that we're in. I just love the heart that your staff has for that service."

Reflecting on his church’s connection with Eagles Nest, Colin hopes their partnership continues for years to come. "I think we just like the connection that we've made over the years between Eagles Nest and Faith Christian Reformed Church... and I just hope that carries on for many more years."
